We are a small, semi-rural practice and have just over 4000 patients across our practices in Newburgh, Fife and our branch surgery in Abernethy, Tayside. We’re close to and easily commutable from Dundee, Perth and Kirkcaldy. Located at the start of the beautiful Fife Costal Path and near the Gateway to the Highlands and St Andrews, Newburgh boasts stunning views over the river Tay.

We have an enthusiastic and youthful clinical team consisting of two part-time GP Partners and Practice Nurse who enjoy the full support of our loyal and highly-skilled Administrators. We offer 15 minute face-to-face appointments and operate a mixture of in person, telephone and remote consultations with protected GP bookable time for reviews, workflow and administration. We are proud to be an accredited GP training practice and currently have a GP Specialist Trainee in post.

Daily MDT huddles are an essential part of our day and the coffee flows freely!

Full-Time Administrator 

Due to am upcoming retirement, we are looking for a new face to join our friendly team!


Work environment

Newburgh Surgery and our branch surgery in Abernethy are busy, fast paced working environments where the ability to multi-task is essential. We have over 4000 patients based across our two sites. No two days are the same which can be challenging but also very rewarding.


What might a day in this job look like?

The role involves use of IT systems, answering the phone to take appointments and answer queries; face to face interaction with patients, staff and visitors to the practice; ordering and printing prescriptions and electronic/manual processing of documentation. You would normally work a set shift pattern but we require a degree of flexibility to cover holidays and other leave. The hours are based at Newburgh Surgery but you might also be required to work in Abernethy clinic.


What qualifications / qualities are required?

National 5s/Standard Grades or equivalent which should include English and Maths are desirable. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is a reliable, flexible, people-person with a ‘can do’ attitude. The post holder must be able to confidently and competently operate a PC and be familiar with Outlook, Word and Excel. As a GP practice, we handle sensitive information on a daily basis and an understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality at all times is essential.
